The beer smells and tastes just like a blue moon. The only deviation in the taste is probably the bitterness that sneaks through from the perle. It is still very green however, and I am guessing/hoping that it will clean up a little bit.
I stayed away from a definitive wheat yeast because I wanted a crisper beer with a citrus taste to it, and I've read a couple places that mentioned Blue Moon uses a Cali yeast in their brew.
The absence of white wheat is solely due to the fact that my LHBS was out of it when I went, and I didn't want to drive over an hour to the other one. I don't know if it is because of the wheat I used, but the beer just doesn't have that orange color like Blue Moon. It looks more hazy yellow.
Does anyone know how I can get that orange color in the brew? Does it come fromt he orange peel, or do you think they might add a touch of color?
Overall, the first couple tastes I had were great, especially considering it is still very green. (about 12 days from brew day)
Any suggestions or comments on the recipe would be greatly appreciated!!
