Lately I've been on a rye kick. I was thinking of brewing a rye ale based off my extract red ale. I'd keep the hops and steeping grains the same, but replace the extract with Northern Brewer's new Rye LME. If it comes out good I'll convert it to all grain (NB lists the percentage of 2 row/Rye/Caramel 40L). I wanted to get some opinions on this.
Anyway here's the recipe.
Fermentables
6lbs NB Rye LME
1lb Light DME
6oz Caramel 80L
3oz Special B
2oz Roasted Barley
Hops
1oz Mt Hood @ 60 min
.5oz Cascade @ 10 min
.5oz Centennial @ 10 min
.5oz Cascade @ 1 min
.5oz Centennial @ 1 min
Yeast
US-05
OG: 1.051
IBU: 32
SRM: 16
