Have to post and say thanks! This was my 2nd batch of beer ever and friends (some who've been brewing for years) said this was one of the best IPAs they've ever had. I'll be brewing this one again for sure.
I just did my first batch of this last night. If you are doing all grain, make sure your thermometer is calculated correctly. If so maybe try mashing 1-2 degrees lower in temp. With that big of a starter in 5? Gallons it should have dropped lower given a respectable mash temp, though I have never used pacman before. I used 1056 with a 1 liter starter and used a mash temp of 152.
Guess I didn't figure out pics....
Ok, I think I figured out how to post the pics I took:
Mine is on the left, the commercial 60min is on the right. I gotta say, I am pretty proud of my first all grain attempt. I'm loving this beer and will definitely do again soon. Thanks again Yooper.
Here's another shot of the head difference, again mine on the left.
Any comments/critiques are welcome!
Mudflap, did you prime with corn sugar? I was thinking of using Munton's Kreamy X. This will be my 2nd batch. After that I am going to revisit my first brew (a Strong Dark Belgian)and see what happens. It turned out great, but my head retention and lacing could be better.
I may have missed this in the 90 pages of comments but if I'm doing a full boil extract do I adjust the hop quantities in oz's? I see 1.25 oz of warrior. Do i use the same our should i go with all grain since that would be a 5 gallon batch? Thanks
did it turn out ok?? Extract quantities for full boil??
First off I'm new to the forum as well as the homebrew lifestyle. I just brewed the extract recipe yesterday and so far looks great. I just had a question about the primary. If I were to leave it in the primary for closer to three weeks rather than two would that create any significant difference in the end product? Thank you and thanks for the recipe

For a full boil, you can follow the AG hopping recipe. That will be the same.

I had to drive an hour to the HBS on the other side of Houston for them. But man do they smell good! Just bottled it today and even flat it tastes AMAZING.
Just got some from Brewmaster warehouse. Mmmmmm

DeFalcos. I live on the north side, and BreItYourself was all out. Where's B&S?

I just opened my term bucket to add the dry hops. The hop smells were awesome but I got a serious alcohol smell in there too. Actually kind of startled me. Is it supposed to be like that? This is my first batch so as a noob I apologize in advance if I'm fretting over nothing.
