I don't know about you guys/girls but I get really sick of deep fried fish, macaroni and cheese, and haluski during lent. I have a Giant Eagle Market District a few minutes from my house that carries some of the best seafood in the area. If I was feeling extra frisky then I would go downtown to Wholeys but Ill save that experience for some other time, probably when I do a meat free clam bake!

Anyway, here are my ingredients for tonight's dinner. I am planing on preparing these all very simply on the grill. The shrimp are going to have olive oil and roasted garlic seasoning. The oysters are going to be grilled with a clarified butter, garlic and onion sauce. Lastly, the mussels are where I am going to get a little fancy with and steam them in a garlic, onion and Woodchuck hard cider broth!

On to the pictures!

I will take some pictures of the finished products when I start cooking later on today!

Thanks!

Looks good! But damn I'm happy I'm an athiest! I can eat whatever I want all year. Pigs, cows, chickens, alligators, opossums, rabbits, turtles, lizards, goats, sheep, ducks, whatever. I don't even have to pretend like the turtles are fish (like you can trick your God anyway). I can eat them whether they were bled by a rabi or run over by a dodge pickup. I can eat them during daylight hours. I get to drink WATER during daylight, ALL YEAR! I can eat grapes! Straight off the vine! I can put a cream sauce on my meat. Or butter. Or pour a gallon of milk on it if I really wanted to. Then blend it up and drink the whole thing! I can eat my meat cooked-all-to-hell or not at all, my choice. I can eat canned goods, and big fish and small fish. Basically whatever the hell I want not forbidden by law. It's awesome, really.

Honestly, I am not a very religious person but I was raised in a God fearing home so there are parts of my religion that stick with me. Even though I tell myself every year that its not a huge deal to eat whatever, whenever I can not bring myself to eat meat on Fridays during Lent.

lent is for those with high cholesterol.
i just had spanikopita, ginger-garlic tofu, and a lipitor cheeseburger.
:)

Lent or no Lent, That looks Delicious!

:off:
Also, You live in Imperial PA??? Thats the most bad ass city/state/beer combo ever!

Ok, You have me. I'm in love with you.

Wow- awesome. Three of my favorite foods, and they look amazing. There is nothing better than grilled oysters, unless you consider shrimp and/or mussles. Thanks for the pictures!
