I am designing a HERMS system and am going to cannabalize my immersion chiller and turning it into my heat exchanger.

What I am wondering is if there will be any issues with still using the coil as a chiller as well. After mashing, I would pump some Oxyclean through the copper and then flush really really well with hot water. Then when it comes time to chill, I will pump the hot wort through the coil for a few minutes to sanitize it, then start to chill.

I am planning on using it as sort of a reverse immersion chiller. The hot wort will flow through the coil, which will be immersed in a tank of ice water, cooling the wort as it passes through.

I cant imagine that there would be any issues with doing this, but wanted to double check first

Thanks!
