Not sure what is going on here:

Brewed this batch (my first) 3 weeks ago today. The gravity is dead on 1.010. I can't even really sniff it when it is in the bucket as the acrid smell is quite overpowering. when I took it out for a gravity reading it smelled ok.

The only thing I did different here was fill the airlock with tap water.

Anybody seen these white bubbles before?

I am still planning on bottling.

co2 is nasty. thats the smell ya got when you opened it... next time, just take the airlock off, and take a big whiff!

ohh, and push down on the lid a tad to get that co2 up your nostrils and burnin real good.

can ya tell, been there, done that?

normal bro.

That's just CO2 bubbles on the surface, and as someone else pointed out that's the nasty stuff you smelled as well...people have nearly passed out opening a fermenter in a chest freezer...

If it's been three weeks I'm surprised you have surface bubbles...maybe the temp changes slightly, but is the grav has stayed the same, then you should be ok to bottle...

Co2 is fun ain't it???

:mug:
