Any of you gentlemen have an idea of what strain of hops grow wild in the Mt. Shasta area? A buddy of mine sent me a pound that grow wild near his house. It's really hard to get past the leafy/grassy smell of the whole hops but they were definitely citrusy. I brewed a pale ale with no idea what to expect. I used 1.5oz @ 60, 2oz @ 20, and 2.5 @ flame-out. I took a sample tonight and I don't know if it's low alpha, bad utilization, or they degraded in transport, but it's not terribly bitter; actually pretty nice. The flavor and aroma is slightly citrusy but more on the fruity side; like grapefruit/nectarine????
Any ideas? Thanks.

No clue and hard to tell without doing a genetic test. Might be good to try brewing them to get a higher IBU (more hops), see if you like the flavour and if so, getting a few rhizomes.
