I've done a quite eloborative search, but I couldn't find a Punk IPA thread on HBT. If I'm wrong please point me to it.

Nevertheless, this is a beer I want to clone, as I absolutely love it.

My recipe so far is:

5,75 kg Extra Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3,0 SRM) Grain 1 100,0 %
15,00 g Chinook [13,00 %] - Boil 60,0 min Hop 2 19,3 IBUs
31,00 g Ahtanum [6,00 %] - Boil 15,0 min Hop 3 9,1 IBUs
16,00 g Nelson Sauvin [12,00 %] - Boil 15,0 min Hop 4 9,4 IBUs
0,33 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 10,0 mins) Fining 5 -
16,00 g Simcoe [13,00 %] - Boil 10,0 min Hop 6 7,4 IBUs
16,00 g Chinook [13,00 %] - Boil 0,0 min Hop 7 0,0 IBUs
16,00 g Nelson Sauvin [12,00 %] - Boil 0,0 min Hop 8 0,0 IBUs
16,00 g Simcoe [13,00 %] - Boil 0,0 min Hop 9 0,0 IBUs
1,0 pkg Dry English Ale (White Labs #WLP007) [35,49 ml] Yeast 10 -
28,00 g Chinook [13,00 %] - Dry Hop 0,0 Days Hop 11 0,0 IBUs
28,00 g Nelson Sauvin [12,00 %] - Dry Hop 0,0 Days Hop 12 0,0 IBUs
28,00 g Simcoe [13,00 %] - Dry Hop 0,0 Days Hop 13 0,0 IBUs

Dryhopping about 7 days into fermentation, I ferment for 14 days.

This one was mashed at 67C. Gave a FG of 1.014, way to high imo.

Next time I'll mash it at 65C. If that doesn't give the FG result I'm after I'll try to do a 70 minute 65F rest next time. I fermented this at 19C. Haven't tried messing with the fermentation temps. This will be the next step after altering the mash-temps.

To much tropical fruits. I'm considering lowering Nelson-additions.

This recipe is very close. Just to much tropical, and a bit high FG. I want the FG down to 1.010-12.

WLP007.

This is not a "I'd like some more/less of that"-thread. This is about making a clone of Brewdogs Punk IPA.

5.75kg x 2.2 = 12.65lbs

I am actually drinking a Punk IPA right now. I love it as well! I don't have a recipe for the punk but I brewed a clone of their Hardcore IPA and it was pretty darn close.

The Malt should be Maris Otter Extra Pale, to get that really golden Punk color.

I see that I've set the 0 minute additions to boil for 0 minutes. I actually WP them during cooldown, I have to adjust this in the recipe. Maybe cutting back on the Nelson to compensate for the extra IBUs during WP.

I haven't been able to brew it since my lhbs didn't have the extra pale last two times I checked.

The recipe is not too far off. Just use less Nelson than it calls for. Maybe half of the amount?

No there was a monthly issue where they interviewed etc... I'm at the fire s=
tation today... It'll be a bit, before I can look. But if your close...

They've changed the recipe a bit again recently. One of the most inconsistent beers around but it's always been good when in decent shape

ABV: 5.6%
OG: 1056
IBU's: 35
Malts: Tipple Pale, Cara, Pale
Hops: Chinook, Ahtanum, Amarillo, Cascade, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin

I don't get the Cara. It's a medium OG beer, and very pale golden. The finish is somewhat dry. My guess is about 1.010, at tops 1.012. At least in my setup with 007, that's what I'd reckon I'd get with that yeast.

If there is cara in it my guess would be something like carapils, or some other very light in color, and not much of it.

Does anyone have a bottle sitting and waiting to be drunk? If so, could you please measure the FG?

That's the old one, if you can go into their shop then they have the specs I listed for the newer one. I don't know exactly when they changed it, perhaps with the new branding so if you are still getting the old one then I guess your recipe would be the one to go for. It was quite a recent change tbf

fwiw their original stronger version was very good too

Then out the window goes the clone recipe. Havent tried the new one. But the original was so good I'll just tweak my recipe to my liking.

I've modded the recipe a bit to:
20 liters
Grains:
Pale ale 4.6kg
cara plus 10 400g

Hops:
60 min.
-Chinook 12 grams.

15 min.
Ahtanum 25 grams.
Nelson Sauvin 13 grams.

10 Min.
Simcoe 13 grams
Irish moss 1 tsp.

0 Min.
Chinook 13 grams
Nelson sauvin 13 grams
Simcoe 13 grams.

dryhop
Chinook 24 grams
Nelson Sauvin 24 grams
Simcoe 24 grams

Mostly because i don't really want to pay triple price for MO....

any suggestions on bottling sugar amounts?

So,,, they released all their recipes in pdf form on their website. 215 recipes in all... Just a FYI look for DIY DOG

It's a pretty cool thing they did! It took a lot of work to put that document together because all the recipes are scaled down to 5 gallon batches. Thanks Brewdog!

So I brewed he Electric India recipe today using 2-ro as the base and I'm thinking about doing the Punk IPA next weekend but they seem to use quite a bit of "Extra Pale" malt which seems to be not readily available in the USA. Is the closest thing to a USA available many the normal Maris Otter or something else?
