I'm looking to add a heat shield and maybe raise my burner. I've only brewed with it once, seemed to do the job but a lot of heat went in every direction.
The burner is 65,000BTU and about 7.25" in diameter, currently it's about 5.5" below the bottom of the pot, my pot is 13" in diameter. The distance between supports on the burner is about 8.5". I'm thinking of of just making a 'tube' about 7.5" in diameter with a notch for the burner to come out. I'm just not sure how high to make it and how low, I know I want exhaust gasses to come out the top, just not sure how big a gap to leave. Also do I need to let much air in the bottom?
Also should I be raising my burner while I'm at it?

I know a lot of this is trial and error, I'm just hoping to get closer before I start all that

Thanks
