Total grains: 8.75 lbs. Mash temp: 155

1. Heat about 10.8 quarts(about 2.5 gallons) to 160degree water on stove top. Add all crushed grains in large grain bag to pot of 160degree water. Closely watch and measure temp and adjust heat for 30minutes to keep as close to 155 as possible

2. After 30minutes take out grain bag and add to a second pot of 155degree water(2.5gallon). do the same as above

3. Remove grain bag after 30minutes and put in strainer bucket. Pour about 2gallons(doing full boil so need extra water for evaporation) of boiling water over it and let run off into brew pot. Throw out grains

4. Add the wort from the other 2 pots to boil pot for a total of about 6-7gallons. Continue brew day as usuall

or is there a better way?

8.75lbs of grain is a heck of a lot of grain for a partial mash.

Are you adding malt extract after step 4? If not, then this ain't a partial mash cuz you're getting all your fermentables from the grain.

if you can boil and chill 6-7 gallons at once, there's no reason you shouldn't just AG brew. go spend $20 on a Rubbermaid Victory 5gallon cooler and $14 on a valve, and some fittings for a stainless steel braid 'manifold' and you're there.

Otherwise, it all seems reasonable for working around the lack of a MLT.

(again, the MLT is the easy part...an 8+ gallon stockpot, a way to heat it, and a way to cool it are the real show-stoppers to AG brewing due to possible cost)
