The rig I'm building (HERMS) has two march pumps. My initial intent was to set up the plumbing to allow my sparge water to be pumped into the MLT, and the run-off to be pumped from the MLT to the boil kettle -both pumps have ball-valves on the output side to allow regulation of flow-rate. Now I'm having second thoughts in the design area. I'm wondering if I'd be better served to just put my boil kettle lower than the MLT and let gravity do its' thing, and simply adjust my sparge water flow-rate to maintain my level (flysparging is my intended sparge method) or will I be fine with the original design? Do any of you use a pump to draw the wort out of your mlt? Am I increasing my odds for a stuck sparge?
The MLT is a 9 gal. SS pot with false-bottom.
Thanks in advance for any advice!! All is read, some is followed, all is appreciated!
