I brewed up a 5 gallon batch of Oktoberfest this afternoon... brew went well, got everything cooled down, and topped up to 5 gallons in my fermenting bucket...
Pitched my yeast, threw on the top for the fermenter, did my usual aerating shakes, and stuck my airlock in the hole before throwing it in my brewing closet.
About 30 minutes later it hit me: I hadn't sanitized the fermenter because I was in a hurry.
Is there even a remote chance that I'm going to get a drinkable beer out of this?
I'm planning on leaving it - might as well see if I get lucky instead of just throwing out the batch. Short of something crazy, I'm assuming I'll be able to detect any contamination when I drink my sample I pull to check final gravity?
