With summer around the corner is there a way to bring down a fermenter temp to safe levels without a refrigerator? Could something be done with store ice to bring temps down?

A full bathtub does wonders to moderate temperature fluctuations. Just fill it up to the water line in your fermenter. Of course, if s--- hits the fan, you could always through ice in there, but you might be suprised to find that it shouldn't be necessary.

I use a basement but you could also construct an insulated chamber big enough for your fermenter and a couple of frozen gallons of water. I am considering this tactic for lagering but will probably just get a chest freezer at some point in the future.
