my uncle has homebrewed since early 90's. i visited them about 7 years ago, he brewed a beer, I watched along, but it was all so foreign as I wasn't a home brewer yet. I've done it now for 1.5 years, and just visited again this weekend, so I got to see it all again and really understand it all, and take pics
here's a quick view into the basement that reeks of envy, located in the home my aunt and uncle in southwest Denver. I present, Redpenny Brewery and sports bar.
The brewery:
Open the door, chest freezer used for over flow and cold crashing new brews.
To your right, counter top and grain storage
to your left, sink, etc. white hexagon is a filter.
Along the left wall, the tippy brew stand. He got it from morebeer.com, http://morebeer.com/search/103470 and http://morebeer.com/view_product/10776/103722/14_Gallon_Conical_Fermenter_-_Heated_and_Cooled. His is the 10 gal. 304 ss tippy, and 14 gal. fermentor. He got it about 10 years ago, so they models have changed slightly, but you can see what kind of price point this kind of gear is in.
close up of thermo-electrically cooled fermentor, capable of 30 deg. below ambient, so he can lager. Fermentor only cools, not heats (new models do both), so on the floor next to it is a radiator for the winter, in case it gets too cold. (Heater isn't in pic above. It's an older pic that he had, it was better than all the angles I took so I used it. Since it's an older pic, the heater isn't there yet.)
In between tippy and fermentor, his CFC, and a place to put his oxygenator. Hose and sink are just 3' away, behind me, you see in other pics.
Close up, sparge arm, mash tun, butterfly clamps. Boil kettle is at bottom of this pic (on the middle of the tiers). His HLT is on very bottom, underneath MT.
Close up, parts of his oxygenator there below those chemicals.
close up, all hoses for HERMS system.
