Didn't want to invest a lot of money on my first, so I bought the $20 dry irish stout kit from NB. GREAT beer! After having completed my second stout, I'm also equally convinced that it's hard to screw up stouts. This is one kit I'd definitely recommend to others who want to try it out. It's a small beer (1.042 OG, 4% ABV):
