How to carbonate beer?

The recipe says to boil 1.25 cup of M&F Wheat Dry Malt Extract to carbonate it but i thought you used some sugar to do that? what do i do?

You can certainly use the DME to prime. It can leave a nice dense creamy head but also takes longer to carbonate as they are more complex sugars.

Corn sugar or dextrose is a little more common and carbonates just fine as well and IME takes less time

If you have the extract, just use that. Most here use corn sugar, but the extract will add a different mouth feel. I'd use what the directions say.
