I just finished up fermenting a batch of cider that is particularly stinky during fermentation. This usually results in complaints from management that something died in my cider.
This time I decided to add a respirator filter to the top of the airlock. I picked up a two pack of the AO Safety filter refils from Home Depot for $1.49.
The packaging said they were rated for organic vapors so I figured why not. Rhino farts are organic, right? For the price the worst thing that could happen is that I'm out $1.49 if they didn't work. I taped the filter onto the top of the airlock with some clear packing tape and hoped for the best. Well the fermentation has completed and I never smelled anything Rhino related. The only bad part is I never smelled the nice apple aromas either. Not a single complaint from management so I deem it a success!
