This is my first all grain...11#' 2 row, .5 # crystal 10L, .5 # crystal 40L., 1 # carapils. Strike water temp. 167F at mash in...rested in at 153F to 150F for 60 min. I collected 3 gal. first runnings. and continued to sparge until about 6.5 gal, wort volume. got a 1.050 reading on that after mixing it up. Boiled down for 60 min. Came up short on fermenter volume by about 1.5 gal.s Had to add water to get to the five gal. mark. That O. G. came in at 1.050. I wanted a bigger beer. Is this a typical result from the before mentioned?
