Partial mash Mac and Jack's clone. Had a heck of a time consistent mash temp. The other mistake, not stirring the wort while chilling. While the thermometer in the one area was cool enough, the batch was way too hot to pitch. Hopefully the yeast exposure to high heat for a bit won't kill me
 
It depends on how high the heat was, but it sounds like it wasn't too hot. If it cooled to the proper temp within a few hours it will be fine.
 
My first batch went into the fermentor last night, just a few minutes ago, it started bubbling out of the airlock. Its a wonderful feeling!
