How do you prevent these occurring in the first place, and how do you get rid of them once you have them? Thanks
 
I haven't heard of film yeasts. I thought yeasts always live in the liquid. Acetobacter lives in a film on the surface because it needs o2. Prevention involves keeping o2 away from the cider and good sanitation.
Maybe you mean movies about yeast, a genre I'm not familiar with.
 
Sorry for being so sarky, I did find a reference to film yeasts today while looking up something else, they are oxidative yeasts so as with acetobacter, keep the o2 out.
