I just picked this up at a garage sale for $6 Its a "universal" grinder.

Universal model 2 food grinder and meat grinder chopper. by Universal, Universal at Goodman's Small Appliance & Housewares

It came with the first 3 attachments on this page:
Parts for Universal Model 2 & Model 3 at Heinsohn's Country Store

I know its a "meat" grinder so I dont know if it will work but i had to grab it for 6 bucks. Looks like a corona.

Nice find. I have my great grandmother's hand crank meat grinder and it looks just like that top link. I'm sure you'll find a use for it even if it doesn't do a good job grinding grain. Home ground beef for burgers is the best!

looks like the one my grandfather had, we would go shoot a few pigs, chop them up and use that to make sausage. good times.:D

I have no Ideal if it would work for grain.

not even sure how to grind beef for burgers... or what kind to buy for that... man.... i hope it works on grain but if not i guess i should try to make burgers.

Yea, forget about using that for grain. Buy a $20 corona for that function. You got yourself a nice tool to step up your cuisine a couple notches. Fresh ground meat is just plain better than store bought ground.

No it won't work....I found one at a garage sale last year for 5 bucks...the front is made for making burger and veggies into a paste...it doe not have the right kind of plate on do grain. THis is set up to push wet stuff into a cutting die which will make hamburger out of something...But even running it twice through will not get you any decent grind for grain...sorry...

This is what the front grinding plate looks like on a grain mill...

I must say though, I'm jealous! I've been looking for a cast iron grinder since the plastic one I've had for about 12 years failed.

Useless for beer, but great for the kitchen!!

Check out these episodes of Good Eats for some ideas on ground meat and sausages.

hmm, well if anyone wants it, its yours with the 3 attachments for 6 bucks plus whatever the post office charges me to ship to you.

If you are searching for a corona type mill try ebay and search for discounttommy. I bought one off of him a few weeks ago and it crushed great this past weekend. I was able to run 13 pounds of grain through it in about 3 minutes with my drill attached. The grinder ended up costing $23 with shipping which is rather cheap. Shipping was quick too.

I clicked on your third link and found this under 'Grain Grinders' This should do the job.

The second item in that link, the "Tradicional," is the Victoria Mod. 500, yet another clone of the Corona. I think they're all made in the same factory and sold under a variety of names.....and prices. This one is overpriced. I got my Victoria 500 from Discount Tommy on eBay. His prices fluctuate, but I got mine for $16 + $8 delivery.
A lot of people love to complain about the Corona mills. I now have one and all I can say is- they work. Do the mod shown in "Revvy"'s pic; take out the cotter pin and replace it with a 1 1/2" #8 bolt. For further info, consult the thread, Search for "ugly junk."

The item you got for $6 is basically a meat grinder. We have one that's probably a century old, courtesy of my father-in-law. They're a very handy item in their own right.
