Hey, I'm making my first AG beer as I'm currently building my mash tun. Here's a recipe I've put together for a simple IPA. Let me know what you think, feel free to tweak as needed! Thanks! :)

11lb Rahr Two Row
1/2lb Caramel 10L
1/2lb Caramel 20L

1oz Columbus @60
1.25oz Centennial @20
.5oz Columbus @15
.5oz Cascade @10
.5oz Columbus @5
.5oz Cascade @Flame Out

Wyeast American Ale Starter

As for the Caramel do I seep that during the boil for color or should I mash it with everything else?

Yep, mash all of the grains together.

You'll get some gravity from mashing the speciality grains, but won't from steeping - all you'll get is colour and flavour. They need the enzymes in the base malt to convert.

Looks like a nice, straightforward recipe though. Good luck.

I ran this through Brewtarget, and you are within the style guidelines of an American IPA with the exception of the IBUs, which are over a bit. If you cut back on the Centennial to just .5 oz and leave out the Cascade at 15, you fit. I'd maybe bump up the Caramel 20 to two pounds, and leave out the 10.

Only thing I would change is to add some dry hopping. I think *all* IPA's need to be dry hopped, but that's just my opinion. Maybe 2 oz of cascade, perhaps. Or an ounce each of cascade and centennial.

Thanks folks! I'm going to drop the Centenniel to 1oz and prolly will dry hop with an ounce of pellet of each C. Got 2lbs so I've got some to use! :) Thanks again for the tweaking!
