Wanting to do a light ale with some specialty grains...

Id like to do something along the lines of a light american ale with maybe 3-4lbs light dme, lb of rice, but Id like to throw in some specialty grain first. What might add some interesting character? 8oz crystal malt? Also what hop selection would do well? I really like my Willamette but I think an ale like this typically uses Cascade or Saaz, right?
 
how did it turn out. also are you willing to share the recipie. im looking for a good guzling beer.
 
Actually haven't brewed it yet. Took a brief brewing hiatus while waiting for a Gluten-free Fat Tire Clone I wrote to ferment for a friend. They loved it. I'll probably start figuring out what I want to do with this one this week.
