Ok so I got the bug to brew from a friend who does beer and my brother who does wine. I wanted to try a mead for my first go at this. I have talked to the local brew shop and the guy there said something about needing to add the honey in over a bit of time so that it doesnt over load the yeast at first. Does anyone understand what the guy meant by this. Any pointers or suggestions for a first time try??

Check out hightest's FAQ and Sticky. Great info there, especially about staggered nutrient additions for yeast.

Staggered honey additions are really only necessary for very high OG meads. If you are at 1.120 or less then you are absolutely fine, ignore him haha. But yes definitely read over the mead FAQs. Hightest has provided tons of info on mead and he knows his stuff for sure.
