I have the non-ported BB carboys and I'm interested in the ported ones. I assume that they can be used not only for easy racking but also for direct to bottle. What I'd like to know is how people add the primer before bottling. I assume all you can do is toss it in through the top but then it would seem to not mix well. With my bottle bucket I put the primer at the bottom and siphon on top of that so I get a good mix just from the racking to the bucket.

Is there a method to using a ported BB for bottling when it comes to primer?

Just boil, cool and throw it in. I racked into a clean BB when bottling and that helped to mix the priming sugar throughly. I made sure to put the priming sugar in first and then rack.
