i want to force carb a keg, can I just connect it in my kegerator, turn up the co2 tank to 30lb or so, wait a bit for it to get there, then Disconnect and set aside for 2 days?

No, more CO2 has to be available constantly until it's carbonated. The headspace in a keg doesn't hold very much.

I cut & pasted this from another post. This is how I do it and it's always worked for me - Dwain:

After racking it over, let it cool down over night in the fridge. Use the carb chart and set your CO2 for the style and hook it up to the liquid out side. Rock the keg back and forth until the CO2 quits going into the liquid. Set your CO2 for the correct psi for your style and hook it up to the normal CO2 inlet. Put the keg back into the fridge. I like to let it sit like that for 3-4 days. 1-2 days will give it some carb, but usually not enough.
