OK, so I order from a bulk grain guy this week and get 5 lb of Franco-Belges Caramel Munich 40 instead of Caramel or Crystal 40. Is this a clean substitution in Janet's Brown Ale (American Brown Ale from Brewing Classic Styles)? I had planned US Caramel 40, but got the Caramunich instead.

Next, what are thoughts on subbing 1/2 Belgian Caramel Munich 40 and 1/2 Caramel Munich 80 for Caramel Munich 60 in a Dubbel (did that make sense?; e.g. 1/2 lb 40 and 1/2 lb 80 instead of 1lb 60)?

Thnx.....you should have seen the look I got when I walked in the house with 2 sacks (yup, sacks) of grain (50lb Rahr and 55lb Castle Pils).

Cheers,
