Many of the guys around here use the standard aluminum keg with the top cut out for a brew pot. I can get one of these for about $75 already cut. I've been more inclined to go with a good stainless pot such as the 60 qt Cabela.

Any pros or cons between these I should understand before I put my money down?

Thanks...

They both have their pluses and minuses...FWIW, I have both. I can tell you I like my kegs because they're sturdy as hell and have built in handles. I have three, so for uniformity's sake I usually use them. One downside is that the lip can trap grain and make cleaning difficult.

On the other hand, a flat bottom kettle is great for whirlpooling trub into a cone at the end of your boil, though.

Again, it's a personal choice. I got my kegs already converted with 3 couplers nicely welded in...much better than I could have done.
