Does anyone have experience with using an electrical immersion hand blender or convential electric mixer for aerating wort. It would seem easy enough to sanitize the business end and a lot easier than hand wisking.

lot's of folks do that. just last night as i was feverishly whipping ip a froth on my strong ale, i told my wife we should dedicate one of her 3 hand mixers to this purpose.

edit: just noticed you're in evanston, i grew up in lake forest, dad and sis are northwestern alums. :mug:

up until recently I used a squirrel mixer/paint mixer attachment for a hand drill to aerate. Now I use an air stone aquarium pump combo and just let it aerate for an hour or so then pitch, then aerate for another hour.

but a mixer like you are describing would work
