A BTU question for all you engineer types

Hey guys,

So, I REALLY wanna brew this week as it's my last week off before returning to work for yet another season of landscaping.
Only problem is the @&%*$ cold weather outside. Ain't no way I'm brewing outside in this crap. So I wanna brew inside on my stove.

My brew kettle will span two elements on our gas stove for a total of ~20,000 BTUs.
Do you think I could bring ~7 gallons of wort to boil on that?

Sure, with enough time. Who knows how long, but I know I am not patient enough to do so.

Keep in mind that unless your kettle overhangs both burners by a couple inches you're going to lose a lot of energy up the sides. I've had a lot of difficulty getting a rolling boil even using two burners on my stove and one of those two burners puts out 15,000 BTU by itself. It will take a long time and you may not ever get to rolling boil.
