Goose island bottles/caps ??

I'm trying to save bottles, so I have been buying craft beers and other crown cap beers... I bought a 6 pack of goose island honkers ale, and where the crown is on the bottle, it looks like glue residue. Hard to explain. Anyone know what it might be? I wonder if they use it to keep all CO2 in the bottle, weird.

I use their bottles a bit, good bottles, I think it is just dried beer.

They hold a seal just fine. no worries.
