krausen question

I am fermenting a 5.5 gallon batch on a 6.5 gallon carboy. Because the krausen doesn't reach the top there is not blow off and all the krausen is still in the carboy and will eventually settle back into the beer. Is this bad?
 
It will be perfectly fine, Most of it will eventually drop back in and settle to the bottom.

There may be a little ring of residue from it but it sounds like you are good to go sir!:mug:
 
Absolutely have an airlock. Wouldn't leave home without it or a blow off tube (is that what the kids are calling them these days)
