This was my first home brewing attempt. I bought a kit from a local brew store that had the grains, malt, hops and yeast. It was an India Pail Ale that fermented for a week in the plastic bucket fermentor, a week in a plastic carboy and the last 2 weeks in bottles. Before bottling, I primed the beer with the included sugar.

Well, I just sampled the beer and it actually tastes very good. However, the head is HUGE! Even with a slow un-agitating pour, the head is 3/4ths of the glass.

Any idea why this happened ... or how to prevent or correct?

Thanks!

It had been refrigerated for about 3-4 hours so I guess whatever the refrigerator was set at .... 40-45 degrees.

Let the bottles sit for at LEAST another week or two. 14 days in bottles is not enough time for the beer to properly carbonate. If you want to drink now, refrigerate for a day or so, then drink.
