I brewed a pumpkin ale extract kit from northern brewers a couple of weeks ago, and racked to a secondary this weekend. The kit came with pumpkin pie spices, and gave optional directions for using actual pumpkin with Rahr 6-row for an hour at 152, which I did. I tasted a little of it as I was racking, and it was extremely bitter. Could this have been from the pumpkin? Or maybe the spices? Is there anything I can do to counteract the bitterness? Let me know if you need more info. Thanks.

It's most likely an issue of time. Sometimes beers take a while to mellow out. Once you get it into bottles (or keg), drink one each week and see how time will change it.

You will find that after a month in primary, and another month in bottles, your beer will taste much different than it does now.
