Can I make a Golden Strong Ale with WLP530 ?
Recommended yeast for the style is of course WLP570.
How different will the beer be with WLP530 - what can I expect ?
(the reason I ask is Ive got WLP530 but no WLP570)
Recipe is 10.5kg pilsener, 500g munich, 500g wheat, 1.8kg sugar.
+-1.081, 25IBU

It will be a different beer. You probably won't get the excessive pear aroma associated with GSAs (Duvel in particular), but some fruitiness will get through - more like dark fruits or raisins (although not as much as with WLP540). If you can't get 570 at all, give it a try. It will still be a dry beer with nice aromas!

Same question. I harvested some of this from a Dubbel I recently made. I want to make either a Tripel or a Belgian Strong Golden and can't find much information on whether it would be a good fit.
