So I'm finishing up my biology degree at the University of Nevada and my long-ish term goal is to get certified and open a brewery. However, I am at a bit of a crossroads as to my path towards brewmaster. My choices here are UC Davis or online through the American Brewers Guild. I was just wondering if anybody has any thoughts as to which would be more beneficial or which would give me a better shot a getting a job
UC Davis:
PROS
- in-depth hands-on action and face-to-face lecturing
- an actual IBD Diploma
- shorter (18-weeks)
- job placement / assistance
CONS
- in a different city
- expen$ive ($14k)
American Brewers Guild:
PROS
- online, so i can do it in my undies (that's what she said)
- cheaper (~ $8k)
- be placed with a mentor, one of whom is at the Great Basin Brewery in Reno
- job placement / assistance
CONS
- doesn't seem as impressive
- less hands-on
I don't know... I could use some advice
