Big Kahuna's New House Ale.
I originally brewed this to celebrate my new house in February 2000. It was inspired by the Buzz Beer brewed on the Drew Carey Show.
4# Light LME
4# Amber LME
½# Chocolate Malt Grain
2oz tetenger hop pellets
1 oz finishing
1cup coarse ground coffee.
1 tsp Irish Moss
Begin steeping coffee in 1 gallon water not hotter than 170 degrees. Remove coffee grounds after 20 minutes, then cool the Coffee.
Slowly bring 2 gallons cold water and Grain to 170. Remove grain and begin boil. Add Malt extract and hops. Boil for 45 minutes. Add Irish Moss and Finishing hops during the last 15 minutes. Transfer to primary add coffee and water to make 5 gallons. Pitch yeast when cool.
