So, I live in the Middle East and can't really brew for fear of deportation or jail and, thus, I haven't been active (barring one sad drunken night of posting a "miss you guys" post somewhere on here) on HBT in quite a while.

I do, however, get to travel a ****load and it struck me in Belgium last week that I could at least share my beer travels with you guys. I can't believe it took me this long to think to post like this.

Found a great store in Brussels called Beer Mania and made some purchases. The dusty one is a Maredsous 10% from 1997! I shipped some back to the States before I left, to cellar.

Geuze Tilquin, a mixture of 3 aged Lambics. This was at Moeder Lambic, a really nice beer bar in Brussels. If you're ever there, I highly suggest it.

Started to get fuzzy here, should have taken notes. I believe this is a beer aptly name Atomium from the UK. Really good.

Went to Delirium Cafe... SWMBO and I were not impressed. It was for young, college aged tourists. I would have liked it when I was 20.

Jacob Bruin. Meh.

Unfortunately I caught a wicked sinus infection halfway through so I didn't get to drink as much/often as I was hoping to. I'll have to go back.

Chips, fries, pommes, frites, doesn't matter my man... Lived in the UK and now a recently former British colony for quite a while. But, uh, thanks?

Kewl pics, love Belgium and its beers. Did a Beercation there on a barge and we hit at least a dozen breweries including a couple that featured Monks :)

Awesome. I really wanted to stay over night at a Trappist monastery/brewery, but when I started feeling sick I decided to stick to my hotel.

I'm jealous. The last time I made it to Europe was before I'd developed into a full-on beer geek. I tried a few things, but didn't really seek out anything obscure.

A beer tour of Belgium is definitely on my bucket list now.

As a dutch person, and knowing a lot of belgians, they don't think that's trivial, it's like saying a stout's the same as an ipa.

Not meaning anything with it other than just a bit of trivia, the beer looked great and a nice list of beers there.

I'd say its worth the trip. Belgium has a lot to offer, both beer related and not. I've gotten to travel a lot since moving to the middle east (its one of the reasons I took the job) and Belgium, Brussels especially, was really cool.
You're just a train ride away from some other cool places, as well, like The Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, France.
