Brewed two 5 gallon batches of golden ale on the same day and fermented next to each other in my basement at about 68 deg. One vial of flemish red yeast in each with some s04 sprinkle on top. Two weeks later i opened both and found this. One was clear with a little yeast raft on top and the other i can only assume this is a pelicle of sorts. Some dry powder here and there. Both samples smelled and tasted the same. Same fg.

Can anyone tell me why such a difference?

Both have been in primary for two weeks and the same strain yeast was used.

Every fermentation is different, even if you use the same yeast or recipe. Both beers look good, so I'd seal them up and let them finish.

I brewed them to fill a 60 gal barrel with my club. Just hoping i didnt ruin everybodys hard work.
