How long will an extract kit last?

Howdy,

I just acquired an extract kit that came with specialty grains and hops that is probably more than two years old. I have two thoughts about this:

1) Use the LME as base for starters since it came in a convenient milk jug type bottle and toss everything else.
2) Throw the batch together and see what comes out.

I'm slightly concerned with #2 because the hops are 2+ years old and I have no idea how well LME keeps. Thoughts?

Did you get the kit for free, and do you have an extra primary?
