Sparging? Appropriate for beginner barrel system?

I currently brew with three 5-gallon buckets, a wort chiller, and an occasional keg. Most of my home brews end up getting bottled. I usually just rake-cane my brew into the fermentation buckets. With my set-up, can I get into sparging? I've never done it before, but it sounds like including it in the process would get me a better beer. Thoughts?
 
Sparging is part of the mash processes. It sounds like you are describing how you rack your beer into the primary. If you are doing partial or all grain brewing, then sparging will increase your efficiency. If you want to dive in the mash processes, then read up on BIAB or Brew in a Bag. Very small investement in additional equpiment and all grain results.
 
Sparging is basically the act of rinsing the mashed grains. Wheather it's partial mash or all grain. Hell,I even sparge steeping grains. Gotta get all those tasty sugars I can. Gives higher efficiency percentage.
I just did a PM kit a couple days ago for the first time. I mashed 5lb of grains with 1.5 gallons of water. Then sparged with 1.5G of 155F water heated up in a smaller kettle. Rinsing more sugars out of the now spent grains is always a good idea. Efficiency goes up,since you now have added more fermentables,rather than just more water to bring it up to normal boil volume. I still did my usual partial boil,which just so happened to basically follow midwest's instructions.
