It is a 1/2" inch threaded end.

If you want a really super tight fit that you would have to thread in, 45/64", but I think 7/8" is more along the lines of what you are looking for.

Measure the width of the threaded part. That has to go through the hole.

Just did and it looks like 3/4" would be a nice fit. 7/8" on the other hand looks WAY too big. I'll break out the step bit and take it slow I guess.

Its just an 1/8" and it will be split on both sides all the way around. I would start at 3/4". It may fit, threading in easily or it may be a no go depending on the stock and tooling of the manufacturer.

I did an installation a while ago and drilled until it was very close then used a Dremel tool and ground out the hole until it had a very snug fit through the hole.

Thanks for all the help guys. Gunna get at it after the kids go down. Assuming I don't screw it up, I'll post some pics. Who doesn't love kettle porn, right?

If you don't have a detached garage to do the drilling in the kids won't be "down" for long. Even just drilling my pot was noisy!

I do have a detached garage. It def comes in handy with late night projects.

Went pretty good! Just ordered the stuff for my new BK from Bobby. The one pictured will now be my HLT.

Nice job! What's the total cost to put it in?

For the whole kettle build or just the thermometer?

I paid $25 for the keg, a bottle of Pliny to have the top plasma cut out, about $100 for the bulkhead, valve, diptube and sightglass/thermo combo and $40 or so for the large face, adjustable thermometer.

Just for the added thermometer. I have similar setup but no built in thermometer. Thanks for the info, happy days
