So I'm brewing my first EPA tomorrow. I know it's the same catagory as an ESB but I'm trying to keep it a pale ale. It's also not a very traditional grain bill but I have 100lbs of candian pale malt so I'm definately not going out to buy MO. I would also prefer UK Crystal but my LHBS didn't have any. Here's the recipe I plan on brewing tomorrow:
5.5 gal batch
OG 1.050-1.052ish
IBU 39
9 lbs Canadian Pale Malt
1 lb Crystal 40L
1 oz Target pellets 8.5 AA 60min
1 oz Golding pellets 4.5 AA 10min
1 oz Golding pellets 4.5 AA flameout
Wyeast 1968 London ESB yeast from HBC yeast bank - 1/3 gallon built up from a slant. It has a 3 inch krausen on it in a 1 gallon jug right now. Plan to brew right away Saturday AM.
