After rummaging through some boxes in my garage I found wall worts and an old hard drive I can remove the magnet from. I did find an old pc fan but I purchased a new one for my stir plate. The other I found will be used for my chest freezer to move air around, I found several wall worts.

So what else do I need to build a stir plate. Ive looked through other ppls DIY's but I'm still unsure of what I need. I know i need a stir bar. But also some type of surface or box, but I am clueless as to what I can use.

shoe box,
tuppaware
wooden box
cigar box
etc etc.

what ever you can get it all mounted in will work.

I epoxy'd a large fender washer on my fan. That allows for easy adjusting of the magnet placement.

A rheostat helps to control the speed of the fan.
