Hello all

Today this found its way into the sorta porter pot:
Sortaporter. I like that.

6 gallon batch, full boil

5 lbs light DME
1 lb amber DME
3 oz black patent
2 oz midnight wheat
5 oz choc 320
4 oz crystal 45
15 min add 1lb honey
and 1 cup molasses

US05 yeast

FWH( does that count in extract? started b4 lit flame) 1/2 oz galena
15 min 1/2 oz galena

nice dark color, hope for a session type porter. Kept grains down due to amber DME. Chewed some galena leaves at end of boil, I thought it had a good flavor.

black IPA pot: 3 gallon boil first 45 minutes, full boil last 20ish
half malt during first 45, rest during last 20

3 lbs light DME
2 lbs wheat 55/45 DME
1 lb amber
2 oz midnight wheat, steep
1 oz black patent, steep
1 lb honey last 15 minutes

1 oz columbus b4 flame
2 oz simcoe, continuous from last 20 to last 5
1 oz simcoe flameout
notty yeast

plan dryhop 1 oz simcoe, 1 oz columbus end of primary

looking fwd to trying in a few weeks

Are the styles close?

Eric
