Hello i just have one dumb question to ask. If I want to brew 2.5 gallon batches of beer using 5 gallon recipes all I have to do is use half of every ingrediant in the recipe right? thanks for any info.

No, it is exactly.
Beersmith allows you to play with altering brewhouse efficiency or equipment profiles when sizing a recipe but it's not required.
