Sorry for the stupid question! I am 99% sure that I can wait a few hours after lautering to start the boil, but I just want to be sure. I only have time to mash lauter now and have to wait to do the boil pitch after the kids go to sleep.

Is there any reason I should not let freshly lautered wort wait in the boil kettle for 2-4 hours?

Thank you!

I don't think 2-4 hours will be a problem. I've read of some waiting overnight, though I wouldn't do that for fear of the wort souring - there's a lot of bacteria on raw grain.

If you're worried about it, you could at least heat the wort to pasteurizing temperature for a few minutes before letting it sit.
