Hey all,

I'm going to bottle my very small batch of Apfelwein using some of the AJ originally used in it's creation. I'm choosing this method because I'd like to fill two 500mL bottles with what is probably just over 1L of Apfelwein in the fermenter. To compensate for any loss due to the trub I'd like to use juice instead of dextrose or the like. So here it is (I believe the numbers are correct).

26g of sugars per 250mL serving of apple juice.

5 ounces of dextrose to bulk prime a regular 5 gallon batch of cider.

or

142 grams of dextrose to bulk prime a regular 19L batch of cider.

Therefore, to prime 500mL of cider I should use 3.75 grams of dextrose.

Assuming the sugars in AJ are not as fermentable as dextrose I'll round up to 4 grams. I'd need to add 38.45mL of AJ to reach 4 grams of sugars, or about 40mL.

4g/26g = 0.1538

0.1538 x 250mL = 38.45mL

Sound ok?

Well... I went ahead and bottled with 40mL of AJ. I'll post the results eventually, but I don't plan on opening these until nearly christmas time.
