I bought 2 50ib bags of 2 row and I am trying to decide on the best way to store it. I bought a Brute trash bin that is food grade. Both sacks will not fit in it unless I dump it out of the bag. But I am not sure I want to break the seal on the second bag just to get it to fit. Seems to me that it is best to keep it in the bag until I need it.
I will be keeping it down in my finished basement with a dehumidifier. It stays about 66 deg down there year around.
I need this grain to last me for the next 10 or 12 months of brewing.
What is the best way that some of you guys have stored your grains long term?
Thanks

Back in the old days, to store extra grain, they fermented and distilled it :)

I would sugget 5 gallon home depot homer buckets with either gamma seal lids or just normal lids. You will need 4 buckets for 100lbs.

Leave it in the bag until you need it.

It will keep fine at room temp and normal humidity for a long, long time. Airtight container is NOT necessary, but grain weevils / rodents are a concern if there is a way into the container.

Once milled, you need to use it or keep it in an airtight container.
