Well reguardless if this gets proved true or is a falsity, the damage to their public image has already been done. I don't really care for the corp but I'm sure shareholders will be a bit worried.

Don't be so sure. They are too busy having great lives to care about whether a few snobs think yellow fizzwater is not absolutely wonderful.

True but the purpose of a publicly traded corp is to maximize shareholder profits. Failure to do so can cause a magnitude of problems for those few who are the decision makers.

So, if you don't have a job, investments, and you live in the woods in a stick hut, you can get up on your soapbox. If you do have a job, investments, a house, a COMPTER, then you have no leg to stand on and your argument against THE corporations doesn't hold water. You have personally benefited from these corporations financially and standard of living wise. Next time you want to rail against BIG corporations, try mining your own copper, nickel, iron, etc and building your own computer from scratch to use to rail against these corporations. If not, please refer back to #2.

If you want to bank at Bank of Corporate America then be my guest. If you want to by your Big Macs then be my guest. If you want to get your gas at Shell to fill up your Hummer or your Pinto then by all means. And if you want your weapons of mass delusion then I know where they are and they are in Crawford Texas. IF that is the way you want to live your life then by all means do so. You may also like Budweiser and probably own stock in it. I would argue that I may not make as much money than you, but I guarantee I am 100 percent happier in the choices I have made as opposed to the choices you seem to not be able to live without. I use to live in a world of choices and it appears nowadays the choices are becoming less and less. One brewery owes many breweries, another restraint owes a chain of restraints, one person owes the media and so on.
Sure everybody needs to buy something once in a while to survive, but it’s the product and the market where you buy your consumer items that makes all the difference in my world.
No doubt about it, I would rather have a Two Brothers, than a Butt Wiper any day, but that’s just me. We all live by the choices we make and in this consumer driven society, people can’t seem to live without the latest Iphone, the newest PlayStation, or the biggest LCD TV. I have none of these and I will probably become a Luddite next year. It’s my choice to do so just as its your choice to purchase your morning coffee at Starbucks. I just choose not to live like that. Does that make me evil or a communist? If that’s what you want to call me then by all means. Call me whatever you want to (Just never call me late for dinner…LOL). I like not being tied down to an underwater mortgage and a car loan that benefits the banking system. Judge me all you want. Live your life and let me live mine.

Lordy...

Why can't we all just understand that people enjoy and prefer different things in life. Wether it's convenience or craftsmanship, we all have preferences and it does not make you better or worse then anyone else on this forum. I would probably go out on a limb and say that I know probably as much, if not more, about beer and how it's made then most on this forum. I would also say that I enjoy ALL styles of beer as much, if not more, then many on this forum. But I still enjoy "corporate" made beer once in a while. I also love supporting small local breweries and enjoy their hard work, love an craftmanship that they put into every ounce. YOU ARE NOT BETTER THEN ANYONE based in how you like to spend your hard earned money and time. Be you! I that means enjoying a Bud or a Firestone Velvet Merlin- which I'm drinking now- so be it. Stop passing your judgments and ways of life onto others... Cheers

If I can't pass judgment, then what can I pass? Gas? Forgitabout it. I have the highest of opinions. My opinions will not be denied. I shall dominate. Truthiness shall reign supreme.

An opinion does not necessarily reflect "truth". A "judgment" is slightly more solid. However, what gives you or anyone the idea that they have the right to tell one what they should be doing or can do with their lives? Maybe I only drink Bud Light and dislike all that "full flavored" stuff. Why is that wrong? And how can you tell me something I like is wrong? What if I like using "Corporate banks" for their security and ease of use, why should judgment/opinion be passed on me because I prefer it? Maybeeee I like playing Playstation. How is that bad for me if I enjoy it? I am starting to see a "1984" trend with the way people think.

You can think anyway you like. Its just when people and corporations start telling me that they are the king of beers, I can put my trust in their bank, the gulf is back to normal, or by eating a dollar meal will make me lose weight then I have a problem with that. Everyone has different tastes and not everyone will value the same beers as me. Some people have extrinsic ideas, while others believe in intrinsic ideals. It’s what makes the world go around, it’s called diversity.

My point is that when corporations like AB don’t play fair, simply because the share holders are greedy, then it’s a sad commentary on the system and society we live in and I have accepted that fact. I don’t have to abide myself to their cooperate ways though.

We just look at life differently! I believe Budweiser is the the King of Beers... Not because I LOVE their beers but they dominate, they rule the beer industry, they have great quality control (this issue being excluded) and they created the market how we know it. Yes the industry is changing but they are still on top. Not all corporations are "evil". And by the way in a capitalist society there is no fair play. There is a perception of fair play but those with the most resources win. Trust me I know. I lost. Not all shareholders are greedy either. They are investors and of course they want the most money back they can get. This sometimes create a "greedy" company but it is not always intended. Actually I wish the private sector was more prevalent but this sue happy society, in my opinion, created this countries business profile. I would also argue that large corporations actually do a lot of good as well which is easily overlooked by those that are so opposed to their business.

Personally I dislike AB. That being said I would bet that this is a ploy to get AB to settle. To defend themselves in court is very very expensive. This will be settled and the lawyers will get payed. The reason I dislike them is for this exact reason. AB sues the small breweries for things like unspecific naming... Really natural ice anyone. Honestly I like AB more because of this suit.

You have a house? A big wall street bank loaned you the money for it.
You rent an apartment? A big wall street bank loaned the construction company money to build it.
You eat? A big Ag company grew, packaged, shipped and wholesaled your food.
Your computer? Built by 10 year olds in China for pennies a day, out of copper wires that was mined and polluted during refining.
You drive? Your car parts were strip mined and built by giant multi national companies, not to mention your fuel.
Your electricity? Mostly coal and natural gas strip mined and fracked.

Those EVIL, greedy shareholders? They are your colleges and university endowments, banks that loan you money, police and teacher pensions, your grandmother's retirement, etc..... In other words, ALL OF US. We are ALL invested in the system and profit from it in one way or another. Give it up.

I'm not saying that it's wrong to feel like you do. Just have the courage of your convictions and live in a hut and be self sufficient. If not, then please revert back to my #2 comment in a previous post.

Just hitting the beer related news wires, and npr.

White Labs testing verifies A-B InBev’s ABV claims
Tests conducted on Budweiser, Bud Light Lime, and Michelob Ultra this week by San Diego’s White Labs found that "the alcohol percentages inside the cans were the same as what was stated on the can," says analytical laboratory specialist Kara Taylor. "Some of them were spot-on. Others deviated, plus or minus, within a hundredth of a percentage" — well within federal limits, she says.

All the talk about evil inbev that went on kind of makes you wonder.

The stupid thing is it is very easy to check the ABV. That and the fact that there are federal inspectors in the breweries all the time kind of made me think it was a bogus law suit

Gee, wasn't it disgruntled ex employees? I saw this one coming a mile away.

Yeah, this is not terribly shocking. I mean, I'm not sure what percentage of Budweiser's costs are raw ingredients, but you gotta figure that the potential savings in skimping a bit on ABV vs the costs (both reputation-wise and legally) of being caught on such an easily tested and verifiable thing would not make much sense.

I have met people that live in caves and they are the happiest people in the world. I have met people where were given thier homes and they are grateful for it (Soviet Union). And yes there are people that live in straw huts and you should see them. You would truly be amazed at the quality and workmanship that goes into them. They are bigger than anything you have and nicer than anything you have. I do have a house in which I paid cash for. It was built in 1948 with local materials and make by hand. Not a big house but its enough to keep me happy and its small enough that I do live in every room in the house. I dont have a car, but I do have a bicycle made by union labor in France, I dont own a cell phone and I am working on getting rid of the internet (I have mentioned this before) My computer.......well you got me there, but its an old one that is outdated. My groceries, I go to a farmers market in the summer and purchace only stainable products where possible. I buy my meat from a farmer that slaughters and packs it for me on the spot. Its good enough to last a year. Water? I have a well..... Electricity, well I am working on it to get fully off the grid.

Its just my lifestyle and my own life choices, and I understand that its not for everyone, but then again I dont want everyone to be like me.

Now that this is resolved, can we get back to hating A-B InBev because they're the only company ever that strives to expand and make a profit?

That's not why I hate them. I hate them becuase of their continued subjugation of the majestic Clydesdale!

Run free mighty steed, run free!!

Cheers! As long as you have the courage of your convictions, have at it. I just don't like people who rail against things that they don't even realize they profit from. Usually these people end up mad when things go bad because they don't understand how economies work.

What do you do for a living?

If Busch still owned the company I would back them, but he doesnt they already fell in my eyes. O

can't you take a refractometer and a hydrometer and compare the two results and find og. the take fg and og and find abv. then you got your answer.

no

we hate them because they're evil

EVIL!

EVIL!

I personally do not drink much BMC styles any more but that does not make them evil. The reason they are the multinational, multibillion dollar conglomerate is because people enjoy their products. Consumers drive what sells. The easiest way to show disdain for a company is to not buy their products , but many choose to belittle consumers by what they enjoy. I do not like a Big Mac. It is still the most popular hamburger in the world for a reason. People enjoy it regardless.

So honestly, part of me wonders if the people doing the suing heard about how AB brews at high gravity and then waters down the finished product to hit final specs, and interpreted that as them "watering down the product." I hope they wouldn't file a lawsuit based just on that, but I also have little faith in the average american when it comes to what one considers the basis for a lawsuit. ;) The only way this lawsuit makes much sense is if there's lab analysis somewhere showing a low ABV in finished product. Maybe that exists in this case.

really, I was just mocking someone up-thread who called them evil. or it might have been the other thread on this same topic.

I don't buy their product because there are better beers. mine included and I'm not a very good brewer.

I don't eat Big Mac's either. McD's was my very first job when I turned 16 and my last job before I joined the Navy. at the time, it wasn't a bad product, because Ray Kroc had rules about his restaurants, like refusing to use microwave ovens. those rules aren't followed any more.

Personally, I would drink bmc all the day long but my religion goes against it. I don't know why these rules were created but I trust my long dead elders.

"And thou shalt not drink of the bmc for the bmc is the false beer. And thou shalt only drink of the beer labelled craft or micro unless owned by InBev (for updated list, seek the Google). And InBev beer was crafted by the spurning of daemons bathing in cesspools of ruin. And it was bad. "

Yup. I'll get a Bud, degas a sample, and do the measurement this weekend unless someone beats me to it.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't bought any BMC since Dec. 1995. I'd say that nearly every brewer here at one time or another, if not consistently, has brewed far better than the BMC gutter flush.

I have to confess to an occasional Mac as a reminder.

I had a budlight a few days ago. I like them as much as I like my beer and sometimes more than my beer. I get lazy sometimes and do not want to wash bottles and you can just toss the empty beer cans :rockin:

I wasnt directing that at you but as people in general. I also here about the evils of CEOs. Most of the time people hate a winner. Sorry for any misunderstanding

New Years Eve at the VFW, I forgot to bring some of my beer, so I ended up drinking what I thought was the only beer at the post's hall, Miller Lite. What little flavor it had didn't taste bad, more like beer-flavored water.

then I found a stash of some Double Take... IPA & PA. not the best in the world, but definitely better than the Lite

OK, you win.

EDIT: I still don't get where you think I hate this company so much though. Did I touch a nerver or something?

:D

To clarify - are you referring to craft breweries or AB?

I would argue that "Quality" is relative and subjective. If you're referring to AB then IMO, they are more renowned for their consistency rather than quality. The two terms are commonly used in conjunction and interchangeably, but they are different.

No ****? Really?

I never knew.

Are you fecking serious?

So, are you saying that AB-InBev lack quality? Because according to Merriam-Webster they consistently produce the definition of quality on at least 5 points.

I dunno what the hell you are trying to compare here, acumen?

Your taste is subjective, yes certainly. Even relative. In so much that despite some dislike for the product itself I'm willing to bet a Ice Cold Bud would be more refreshing after 3 hours of cutting grass with a push mower in 100 degree heat than say a Imperial Milk Stout.

But, an individuals dislike for a product does not mean it is an inferior product with respect to the quality of how it was produced, the quality of the means, materials, methods.

I don't like Diet drinks. They taste like utter crap to me. Doesn't mean the companies that produce them are inferior, or guilty of improprieties thus deserve to be roasted in the bowels of hell.

Doesn't mean the product lacks quality. Just means I don't like the qualitites of the product. So what's the solution?

It's actually amazingly simple. In fact, it's mindboggling no-one here that professes a dislike for AB has thought of it, you just don't buy it. Simple as that. Keep on walking. No harm, No foul. And the world keeps spinning.

In fact, I bet that if nobody bought the products then AB-InBev would cease to exist. Makes sense don't it? That a company would keep producing such a horrible product because sombody out there keeps buying it.
